Senior Editor's Greetings
Welcome to the MyNetResearch Newsletter for September 30th, 2008. As the Fall Semester kicks into full gear, we at MyNetResearch are kicking into full gear also! We are adding many new members daily and institutions weekly and generating great 'buzz' in the collaborative research marketplace.
These are indeed exciting times and gratifying for us to see many jump onto the bandwagon and following our lead. We have many new and exciting developments planned in the near future and look forward to sharing them with you. In the meantime, thanks for joining us in this bold paradigm shift and don't forget to share your insights and comments with us at any time...and to share MyNetResearch with your colleagues also!!
MyNetResearch Forums
The idea and practice of fora (one forum, two fora) as communities for interaction is ancient, most famous in Roman times (BC). A forum was a wide-open space for commerce and public demonstrations ringed with shops, schools, and housing, often with a stage for speeches and public demonstrations. A forum was a physical place to meet and exchange ideas.
“An Internet forum is a web application which provides for discussion, often in conjunction with online communities. Older forums date back to around 1996, following the newsgroups and bulletin board systems which were widespread in the 1980s and 1990s…Internet forums also commonly referred to as web forums, message boards, discussion boards, discussion groups, or simply, forums." (Gnulinuxclub.org)
MyNetResearch offers an easy way to discuss and communicate within an academic community – click on “Forums” and continue a very old tradition of communication with a 20th century created word. Anyone vote to change our tab to the original Latin – Fora?
Growing and Growing...
The latest Universities to join MyNetResearch include Rowan University and Lincoln University! A big welcome to these universities from the global MyNetResearch Community. Help our community grow by introducing MyNetResearch to your Department Chair, Dean, or Provost.
